When Is It Time To Call For AC Service?

Sweating in the house

Our homes are made to be comfortable places, somewhere to relax after a long day. Unfortunately, though, when your AC unit goes down, your home becomes anything but.

In Phoenix especially, having no AC can not only ruin your day, but it can also become an emergency situation quickly.

So, with that in mind, what’s the best way to make sure that your AC is taken care of before it becomes an inconvenient, air conditioning breakdown? Watch out for these AC indicators that mean you should call an AC technician ASAP:

#1: Warm Air

Obviously, if your air conditioning unit is set on cold but it’s pushing out warm air, there’s something wrong. At this point, you should waste no time in contacting a qualified air conditioning specialist.

Luckily, your AC blowing warm air is an issue that usually has some simple fixes. It may be that you need work in your air ducts, that your system’s compressor is faulty, or that you need to replace your refrigerant. No matter what the issue is, though, an AC repair technician can have you taken care of in no time.

#2: Strange Smells

Weird smells from your AC are never a good thing and warrant an immediate inspection. This is because the most common issue that causes strange air conditioning smells is faulty electrical wiring. This is a major hazard that should be dealt with right away! If you notice any odd odors coming from your AC unit, we recommend scheduling an emergency service immediately.

#3: Poor Airflow

While not as dangerous as strange smells and faulty wiring, poor airflow is still an excellent indicator that your AC is in need of┬áservice. When the airflow coming from your vents has weakened, it usually isn’t an issue that resolves itself. As it gets worse, the AC will no longer be able to properly cool your space and you’ll be left to fend for yourself in the sweltering heat.

This problem usually indicates simple issues, luckily. Your technician may find that your air ducts are clogged or that your compressor needs repaired or replaced. No matter the issue, though, they can have your system back to blowing full force in no time!

#4: Odd Sounds

Last on our list is odd sounds coming from your AC unit. Usually, when your AC is running, you’ll hear a consistent humming and whooshing that means everything is working properly. If you start hearing something else, though, it could be there’s an issue in your system.

For example, clicking noises from your outside unit could be an obstruction in the fan. Clicking on the inside of your home, however, could be faulty electrical wiring. Both of these are issues that need immediate attention.
